Nice job of de-politicizing the tariff debate regarding Canada. Regarding fentanyl coming from Canada, it would seem that Trump's demands could be a huge gift to the Canadian people, who are also beset with a drug abuse epidemic. Like the Biden administration, the Trudeau administration seems unconcerned, focusing their energy on typical WEF priorities like DEI, etc. The simplest way to stop drugs from entering the U.S. from Canada would be to stop it from entering Canada in the first place, thereby serving the interests of Canadians at the same time. Thoughts?
Hi Harry, thanks for your comment. You raise a great point that I had not considered. Why isn't Canada more concerned with its fentanyl problem? Like Biden, Trudeau has been obsessed with increasing immigration. I understand that Canada is now cutting back because it has some severe economic problems. Most prominent is a housing shortage that is severe. I think it's all going to come down to who wins the next Canadian election, which is in about 30 days. I think the conservative would be much more supportive of Trump's requirements for elimination of the punitive tariff.
We (and they!) can only hope their elections are honest. If so, the conservative candidate should have a good shot at winning. They must feel about the same after Trudeau as we felt after Biden, and hopefully will act accordingly!
Trump did not help matters by making fun of the "51st state." The liberals started to rise in the polls after that. But, I think the conservative still has a slightly better chance. I hope so.
Thank you, Cat. I try to stick with the facts as much as possible, although sometimes my political viewpoint probably shades my articles. The tariff issue is a tough one which divides both Democrats and Republicans. Best regards, Joe
